Data & Analytics Product Owner

Overall Purpose of the Role
• To take ownership of the data platform, managing the process from source data to the presentation layer, and acting as the sign-off authority for underlying data models.
• To manage and prioritise the Data & Analytics (D&A) backlog, working collaboratively with the data architect, data engineers, data analysts and other business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, timely and meets requirements.
• To challenge and understand the business and its systems, driving continuous improvement in business insights.
• To maintain technical ownership of the data platform, ensuring governance, usability, and performance of the platform consistently meets the needs of the business.

Primary Responsibilities of Role
• Accountable for the design of data models through different data domains that can support supports analytical processes and reporting.
• Responsible for up-to-date technical documentation in and Enterprise Architecture tool.
• Responsible for prioritising the backlog of work for our Data Lakehouse and BI tool based on business and technically priorities/dependencies.
• Responsible for presenting solutions to the Technical Design Authority (board of architects).
• Ensure the data flows are documented and data marts reconciliation from source to reporting layer is certified.
• Lead and collaborate with a multi-skilled team to deliver against the D&A strategy
• Be an ambassador for the art of the possible, ensure that structured analytical solutions are scalable and meet the business objectives whether tactical or strategic.
• Identify and assess internal and external data sources to derive business insights, tactical decision making and hypothesis.
• Develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable and future-proof data services to meet user needs
• Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems
• Develop Key Performance Indicators and metrics that measure the performance of the data platform.

Role Specific Technical Skills and Knowledge/Qualifications

Knowledge;
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
• Experienced with cloud technologies focusing on Microsoft platform. E.g. Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or Microsoft Azure Databricks
• Proficient in using tools like Python, R, or SQL to automate repetitive tasks, conduct analyses, and develop custom solutions.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps and CI/CD concepts would be beneficial.
• Prior experience with data warehousing, modelling and analysis.
• Good knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Skills;
• Applies knowledge of systems, data, and requirements to uncover problems and recommends solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to identify differing communication styles and adapt accordingly.
• Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships across the organisation.
• Effective time management, ability to manage own workload appropriately.
• Able to interpret the results of analyses and provide actionable recommendations based on data-driven insights. Help decision-makers understand the implications of the data.

Benefits: 
£55,000-£70,000 per year plus bonus and benefits
